It pays to choose an insurer who understands the business you’re in.
Location: Tauranga, NZ

Tranzliquid Logistics Ltd is proud of their reputation. They’re not only a supplier of choice for Gull, but also a spot service provider for BP, Greenstone, Chevron and Mobil, and sub-contract to other transport companies including Hooker Pacific and Allied Petroleum. They’re an employer of choice and have received many prestigious awards including Fleet Operator of the Year 2010 presented by Institute of Transport Engineers NZ (ITERNZ). Greg and Jackie Pert own and operate the business which they established in Tauranga, New Zealand.

Tranzliquid is a specialised bulk fuel and bulk petroleum product transport and logistics company. “Insurers can be reluctant to deal with trucks and fuel,” Greg explained. “The problem is they don’t fully understand what goes on and consider the business to be high risk.

“Back in 2007 we decided to change our insurer – with the assistance of our broker we considered four or five different companies. NTI impressed us because they specialise in trucks and seemed to understand what transporting dangerous goods is all about. Since taking over our commercial fleet policy they’ve done everything they said they would do and more.”

Tranzliquid operates a fleet of twelve Kenworth trucks which tow New Zealand-made Tanker Engineering tankers – seven of those tankers are 40 000 litre capacity semi tankers; there are also five 45 000 litre quad tankers in the fleet.

Greg and Jackie pride themselves on the quality of their fleet – one of their tankers has travelled more than four million kilometres but you’d never know it; it’s in ‘as new’ condition!

Aside from meeting the bulk fuel transport needs of a number of multi-national companies, Tranzliquid also completes spot jobs on a contract basis to destinations across New Zealand.

Greg and Jackie credit Tranzliquid’s success to the professionalism and skill of their operators who are experienced in all aspects of heavy vehicle and tanker operation. Priority is given to compliance and training to ensure high standards are maintained.

“We are solution orientated,” Greg explained. “We have the ability to maximise our fleet’s utilisation to achieve logistical challenges for all our customers.”

Tranzliquid operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Some trucks are double-shifted which means it’s not unusual for each one to clock up between 250 000 and 350 000 kilometres a year, which is considered extremely productive.

“We’ve had very few incidents over the years but what we’ve found when we’ve needed to make a claim with NTI is that their focus is on getting us back on the road as soon as possible,” Greg said. “One phone call is all that it takes to get the ball rolling, the repair happens quickly and we’re kept informed along the way.

“NTI repairers only use genuine parts and NTI guarantee the repairs for life. We’ve never had a problem with any repair and I think that’s about the calibre of NTI’s repairers!

“In the case of a major incident, NTI’s Accident Assist service is outstanding. They provide trauma counselling if required. They also can assist with site remediation, salvage of vehicle, and initiate the recovery and repair of vehicle in no time at all,” Greg added. “We couldn’t be happier.”

“Plus, if ever we have a question about anything, we know that there’s someone at the end of the phone to take our call – and not just anyone – someone who knows trucks and understands our needs and issues.”
